FFVII References

I was playing FFVIII (btw an AWESOME game! Not as good as FFVII story-wise...but the visuals are soooo cool!!! the videos are perfect, more detailed, etc......ANY-HOO....) and I noticed several references to FFVII (and other FFs, but as I just played FFVII, i noticed those ones more.

so I will list them now! ill add more if i see more later in the game, I'm only on Disc 2 outta 4.

When I was on the radio tower in Dollet, two of the guards there were named Wedge and Biggs! I don't know if they are in other FFs, but in FFVII they were to Avalanche members that got killed when the sector 7 plate fell.
ooh ooh, and they were also names of pilots in Star Wars IV!

when i was fighting the sorceress Edea for the first time, the battle music had traces of the FFVII theme in it! it was cool, i liked that...

when i was in the Galbadia prison, little tiger things came to the rescue (still havent found out what they are...i gotta play more in the story...) but the little tiger things looked a lot like Red XIII from FFVII..

finally, and the most obvious, the name of the Headmaster of Balamb Garden is Cid. Technically theres a Cid in every FF, but since VIII came after VII, it classifies as a reference...

ok so those are the references I've found since the beginning of the game into Disc 2. hopefully I'll find more!

Yeah, the graphics are great, but the characters still pixelate.

There is a Wedge and Biggs in almost every FF. At least I know from 7 and up. But I also read this.

The only thing the moobas have in common with red 13 is that they are red.

There are a lot of traces to other FFs in the music.

It wouldn't make it a reference if there is a cid in every one. That would make every FF a reference to every other FF.

if the wedge/biggs thing started in FFVII, then them in FFVIII is a reference to VII!

the lion thingies dont have to look EXACTLY like red XIII to be a reference, it's obvious that red XIII is where they got the idea for the cute little lion thingies, therefore its a reference

even though there are traces to other FFs in the music, the thing that I pointed out in the fight against Edea has the *FFVII* theme in it, therefore a specific 7 reference

I know theres a Cid in every FF, but since 7 came after 8 im just gonna humor that fact and say that the 8 cid is a reference to the 7 cid, Its not a specific reference, but a reference none the less

Why do you always put down my ideas?? I'm just gonna refute them anyway...

more references:

the Ifrit and Shiva summons: Both the animations and the beasts themselves are referenced to the Ifrit and Shiva of FFVII, specifically, because FFVII was the first 3-D FF, so the models and animations of the beasts must be referenced to.
Possible more summons, but I dont have a lot right now...

also, the "Centra" excavation site might be a reference to the Cetra? not sure yet, Centra might just be the name of the place...

There is a shiva and ifrit in every one. In 7 in 8 in 9 in 10 in 11 that doesn't make them all references. Like, I said before, you'd have to say every FF is a refenrece to every other FF.

they do look alike! were there any lion thingies in any FF before 7? no! so the "moombas' are a reference to Red XIII!!!! and i know Ifrit and Shiva are in every one, but since FFVII was the first 3-d one, the 3-d versions of irfit and shiva are references because they look like the summons from FFVII!

im starting to wonder whether or not you even know waht a reference is...
